The PACK Solutions Challenge will be returning to PACK EXPO, scheduled to be held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre from the 28th till the 30th of September, 2015, and the co-located Pharma EXPO. According to PMMI, the PACK Solutions Challenge this time will focus on issues facing the pharmaceutical industry.
According to Maria Ferrante, PMMI’s V.P of Education & Workforce Development, each year, the PACK Solutions Challenge tasks students from PMMI Partner School across the country with finding solutions to packaging issues plaguing the real world.
This year’s PACK Solutions Challenge will be sponsored by B&R Industrial Automation. There will be a competition where teams of packaging college students are pitted against each other to develop the best solution for a specific packaging need.
PACK Solutions Challenge Encourages and Nurtures Future Talents
In the 2015 edition of the competition, students will be tasked to develop a packaging solution for Innovative Pharmaceuticals Inc. – an imaginary company, and its OTC product that dissolves fast. Packaging advisers from production houses will be present at the show to guide the students. They’ll use packexpolasvegas.com as one of their main research tools. The mentors will be visiting the booths and conducting interviews as well.
Students will present their plans to a group of judges on Tuesday, the 29th of September. Winners will be announced on the same day afternoon at the Booth of B&R Industrial Automation. Attendees can submit votes for “People’s Choice Award” after judging the poster presentations of student solutions on Monday, the 28th of September. All attendees who turn in their completed documents will be eligible to enter a competition for winning a PS4 game system.
Scholarships will be provided to the winning team by the PMMI Foundation. The team placed at the first position will get $4,000, while those coming at the second and third positions will be awarded with $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.
According to Marc Ostertag, B&R Industrial Automation’s President, PACK Solutions Challenge gives the industry’s future leaders a real experience of creating solutions that are capable of meeting particular needs of customers.
PACK EXPO 2015 is co-located with Pharma EXPO 2015, a joint venture from the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) and PMMI. These two shows have over 800,000 net square feet of joint displaying space. They expect to attract 30,000 packaging and processing professionals and more than 2,000 demonstrating companies including short form consultants.
Registration fee for PACK EXPO is $30 till the 14th of September. After that, it will go up to $100. Read more about heat sealers here.
