Pizza PackagingAs a new initiative in pizza packaging, Stateside Foods based in Westhoughton has involved the students from Rivington and Blackrod High School to design packaging for its future products. The students have been asked to focus on elements like creativity, functionality and reusability in their packaging design that might be implemented in the year 3,000.

Stateside Foods has been in business for more than 20 years. It has played a leading role in shaping the chilled pizza market in the UK. At present, the company supplies its own label and branded chilled pizzas to UK’s leading food retailers.

At Rivington and Blackrod High School, young talents belonging to year eight seemed to enjoy the entire experience thoroughly. The initiative of Stateside Foods encouraged them to explore various design concepts. Environment-friendly, sustainable design concepts of packaging were the major forte of the competition.

One of the teachers of the school – Sarah Dunlop, has commented that the competition arranged by Stateside Foods on pizza packaging gave the students a wonderful opportunity.

She said it was a platform to simulate the commercial practice by addressing a design need of the real world and then presenting plans and prototypes to Stateside Foods’ design team.

Events Sponsored by Stateside Foods

Events are ways where organizations can connect with their target consumers. SFG is one of these organizations whose social responsibilities are deeply rooted in creating sustainable operations. Here are some of the events this company has sponsored and joined.

Bolton Food Festival

Stateside is one of the main sponsors of the Bolton Food Festival, which is in its 7th year of celebrating. The event is held in Victoria Square. During the event, the company features its pizza and gives out goody bags and balloons for kids.

SFG shared with the crowds tasters of its pizza, free goody bags, and balloons for the little ones. It also offered free prizes. Besides these goodies, a team is present to answer inquiries regarding job applications.

In every event sponsored by SFG, the company made sure that it showcases its pizza packaging to participants and onlookers. It even encourages people, especially the younger ones, to join the competition for a chance to win an amazing prize.

SFG is not only committed to creating sustainable takeout packaging but to creating a community where residents can participate.

Pizza Packaging DesignInnovative Pizza Packaging Design Competition Encourages Students

In the competition, the young students got a chance to use various facets of communication skills to present their ideas. This included computer design, illustration, and photography.

To acknowledge the efforts of the students, Stateside Foods awarded two Kindle Fires to the first and second prize winners of the pizza packaging design competition.

The third winner was awarded an art kit. The winners for the first, second, and third places were William Ewens, Bethany Peace, and Callum Goldthorp respectively.

Natalie Goodall of Stateside Foods said that despite having an employee strength of less than 800, the company enjoyed working with young talents and giving them a feel of the real world.

She said they were overwhelmed with the design standards that the students have showcased in response to their brief. Also, she said the company expects to organize and support more such events in the future similar to this pizza packaging design competition.

Pizza Packaging Design in Westhoughton High School

After the first pizza packaging design, Stateside Food held another contest a few years later. This time, the venue is Westhoughton High School.

At Westhoughton High School, Year 7 students recently had the opportunity to get creative in the kitchen – with a little help from Stateside Foods. The students were allowed to design their pizzas, as well as the packaging to put them in.

They then submitted pictures of their designs for judging. The winners were awarded Amazon gift vouchers, courtesy of Stateside Foods. The competition was a great way for the students to learn about different aspects of the food industry, from product design to marketing.

Why Stateside Foods Holds Pizza Packaging Design Contest

To engage with the next generation of food industry professionals, Stateside Foods sponsors a pizza packaging design contest for students.

The contest challenges students to create a pizza box design that is both eye-catching and functional (check out our MRE packaging round up for ideas), to promote the brand and drive sales. The grand winner receives a prize and the opportunity to have their design featured on a limited-edition run of Stateside Foods pizza boxes.

In addition to providing students with real-world experience, the contest provides Stateside Foods with fresh, new ideas for marketing its products. By investing in the future of graphic design, Stateside Foods can stay ahead of the curve and maintain a position as an industry leader.
