How Do Heat Sealers Work?

Heat Sealers use different mechanisms of actions to achieve hermitic heat seals.

The majority use a thermal impulse mechanism to generate heat and fuse (or weld) flexible packaging layers, such as plastic film or paper, together.

The impulse heat delivery is timed and ensures a consistent, reliable, and optimal seal quality when used repeatedly.

Some impulse heat sealers rely on either ceramic or PTFE (or a combination of both) to apply the heat from the bars to the packaging. They heat both packaging layers at the same time to hermetically weld and create an airtight bond between them.

Though compatible with most thermoplastic packaging films there is the other option of a constant heat sealer. These machines are designed for heavy gauge, multi layered laminate foils. Most devices require a manual operation and will heat the film to achieve the weld for as long as the operator applies heat.
